Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we are asked most often; about our services, process, ethics, confidentiality, and how an engagement with Scholars Consultants actually works.

About Scholars Consultants
Scholars Consultants is an independent advisory practice that helps researchers, authors, executives, universities, and organisations transform serious expertise into published, visible, and trusted authority. We do this through six integrated practice areas: Research & Publication, Institutional Advisory, Books & eBooks, Executive Reputation, Media & PR, and Digital Authority. What distinguishes our work is the ability to design these practices together around a single client objective; rather than offering disconnected standalone services.
Our clients include early-career and senior academics seeking to build publication records, universities and research councils working to improve research output and culture, executives and professionals building thought leadership presence, authors developing first or second books, and institutions across the GCC, South Asia, the UK, and beyond seeking strategic advisory support. What most of them share is the possession of genuine expertise and the ambition to ensure that expertise reaches a wider audience; combined with the recognition that doing so requires more than good intentions.
Our registered office is in London, United Kingdom. We operate globally, with a significant presence in the GCC, South and East Asia, and North America. Most advisory work is conducted remotely; in-person workshops and advisory sessions are available in London and, by arrangement, in Gulf and South Asian locations.
Standard editing agencies focus on language; making your writing clearer or more grammatically correct. Standard PR agencies focus on media placement. We integrate strategic advisory across research, publishing, reputation, and digital channels; and we begin every engagement with the client's goal rather than a specific service. This means a researcher who comes to us for editing may, after a strategic conversation, receive a combination of journal strategy, manuscript enhancement, media positioning, and LinkedIn development; all aligned to a single objective.
Ethics, Quality & Integrity
No, and any organisation making such a guarantee should be treated with serious scepticism. Journal acceptance decisions rest entirely with editorial boards and peer reviewers. What we provide is the highest-quality strategic and editorial support to maximise acceptance probability; but the final decision is always the journal's, and we would not have it any other way. Our reputation, and our clients' reputations, depend on the integrity of that process.
Never. We have a rigorous internal verification protocol for every journal we recommend, and we actively advise clients against predatory publishers. We check Scopus and Web of Science indexing status, editorial board legitimacy, peer-review process transparency, and publisher reputation before any recommendation is made. We also share our verification reasoning with clients so they can develop independent judgment over time.
Our editorial and writing support is analogous to what a skilled academic editor provides; improving structure, clarity, language precision, and argumentation without altering intellectual content, findings, or authorial contribution. This is well within the accepted norms of academic publishing support. We do not write research, fabricate data, manufacture findings, or produce manuscripts that misrepresent authorship. The intellectual work remains entirely that of the named authors.
Client confidentiality is a design principle, not an afterthought. We do not reference clients by name, disclose engagement details, or use client work as portfolio material without explicit written consent. All team members and external collaborators sign non-disclosure agreements as a condition of engagement. The case studies on this website are composite, anonymised, and representative; not drawn from identifiable individual clients.
Engagement Process
The best starting point is a complimentary 30-minute advisory consultation; either by booking through our Consultation page or by emailing info@scholarsconsultants.com. On the call, we will listen to your objective, ask focused questions, and give you an honest view of the right starting point and realistic timeline. There is no obligation and no sales pressure. If we are not the right fit for your objective, we will say so.
This depends significantly on the scope and nature of the work. A focused manuscript assessment and journal strategy session may be completed in two to four weeks. A full publication advisory engagement from manuscript through to acceptance typically takes three to eight months, depending on the journal's review timeline. Institutional advisory programmes are usually structured as six-to-twelve-month engagements. We set realistic expectations at the outset and maintain active, transparent communication throughout.
Pricing varies by engagement type, scope, and duration. We provide bespoke proposals following the initial advisory consultation; we do not publish standard rate cards because our work is not standardised. We are transparent about costs upfront and do not introduce additional charges during an engagement without prior discussion and agreement. We also offer phased payment structures for longer institutional engagements.
